Chile's Public Health Institute (ISP) approved the use of tirzepatide, a drug from the US pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, indicated for treating type 2 diabetes and managing body weight.
The drug acts on two hormonal mechanisms involved in regulating glucose and appetite, combining effects that until now were achieved separately with other treatments.
According to reports, its sale in the country began gradually, adding to the list of therapeutic options available to professionals and patients in the region.
